The Springboro High School Varsity Tennis duo of senior Michael O'Gara and freshman Phillip Gruber advanced to Division 1 State Districts this week in the Sectional Tournament at Centerville HS. The duo was ranked #3 in the Sectional tourney. They went through teams from Middletown, West Carrollton, Fairmont, #2 Beavercreek, and finally topping off the weekend with a Finals victory over #1 seeded Centerville.
What a great accomplishment being the underdogs and knocking of the top two seeds above them. They took care of #2 Beavercreek 6-1, 6-0. Centerville they defeated Jared Lonsbury and Stuart Shneiderman, two seniors, 6-2, 6-4.
In other news from this Tennis weekend, Ryan O'Gara was defeated in the semifinals by #1 seed and eventual Sectional Champ Brad Boll from Centerville. The duo of Colton Zwissler and Anthony Ramicone was defeated by #4 seed Austin Romero and Steven Dull from Carroll.
