Hello! Welcome to my new section here at The Voice of the Miami Valley! My name is PureCascade. Here I will give news and rumors on video games and also do a review of at least one new video game that I’ve played. If you have any questions or suggestions, please email me at purecascade@hotmail.com. I will do my best to answer everything, and maybe even put some questions in this OEZ section for all to see! And now that we’re done with the formal stuff, let’s move on to the good stuff.

First, News!
I’m sure all of you have heard of the Infinity Ward mess that’s been going on for the past couple of months, and if you haven’t, here’s a quick rundown. The two heads and founders of Infinity Ward had started to shop around for new publishers because their contract was up in the very near future. Activision, their owners, found out, did a quick investigation, and then fired them on the grounds of inciting insubordination.

Well, big surprise, the great majority of the now dead to me studio has been leaving Activision in a mass exodus. Now Jason West and Vince Zampella, the previous heads of Infinity Ward, are asking for $36 million dollars for damages in a suit against Activision. They claim that the publisher started their investigation specifically to fire them. Apparently, this got Activision out of a contract with Infinity Ward that would force Activision to give control of any Call of Duty game set after the Vietnam War era to them. This would include the Modern Warfare franchise.
I think we can all agree that the Modern Warfare franchise has officially been flushed down the toilet. Sadness ensues.

Combining the last of the news and the review sections, let’s pick our moods back up with some juicy details on probably the thing that I, personally, am most excited about. The Halo: Reach Beta is finally out! FINALLY! To be able to join in all the epicness that is Halo: Reach, you need to have a copy of Halo 3: ODST. Now that I’ve played it for the past few days, I can honestly say that it is probably the best of the series. It’s still very much “Halo” in its action and look, and the weapons, old and new, are very fun to use, though there is a bit of a learning curve as Bungie has added a bloom to the aiming reticule. Meaning that now there is a bullet spread, so you’ve got to time your shots and feather that trigger, or you’ll miss. I particularly like the Needle Rifle, Plasma Blaster, Plasma Grenade Launcher, and of course, my old friend, the Assault Rifle. So far, I give this game two thumbs up!
I know what you’re thinking, “It’s just a beta!”, but seriously, it’s a ball and I absolutely can’t wait for the full game to come out.

I’ll keep everyone posted on this subject as time goes. Bungie is going about this slowly, and at the time of this writing, the Invasion game type has not been released yet. So keep coming back to learn more about THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TI… I mean…  Halo: Reach!

So that’s it for this week! Remember, send or leave me questions and comments (Please keep them civilized people!) to purecascade@hotmail.com! Next week, we’ll cover more Halo: Reach goodness and a couple new subjects. Don’t worry PS3 owners; I will do my best to give you updates and even a few reviews as I can get them. SEE YA! :D
